What happens when a tenant stops paying rent?

A tenant is contacted when they fall 5 days behind and consistently over the next week. Once the tenant falls more than 14 days behind in their rental payments they are issued with a Termination Notice for non-payment of rent. At this stage they are required to fix up all the rent arrears or enter into a repayment plan agreed to by the Landlord. An application for Termination and Possession is made to the Consumer, Trader & Tenancy Tribunal if the tenant does not pay the outstanding rent or enter into an agreed repayment plan.
